So its the new year and the best time to look at changing what I do and how I do it. Bearing that in mind I have created a list of things that I would like to achieve this year.
Change Job
I am currently driving 2 hours in each direction from my home city of Oxford to Cole Green, in Hertfordshire for work. As you can imagine this is starting to play havock with my family and social life so I have made the choice to start looking for a new job.
I am concious that Oxford is not the greatest place for job hunting especially in the SEO field but I am prepared to travel 30minutes each way which will bring in towns and cities including Reading, Swindon & Wycombe.
If you are looking for an experienced SEO then you are probably looking for me.
Buy a New Car
Ever since I have been able to drive I have always had a second hand car that my old man has bought through contacts in the trade. Well this year I have decided that I am going to try and save as much money as I can to buy a new car. Everyday I see people with brand new cars driving around in luxury whilst I am driving around in an old estate, I’m 26 for god sake not 56!
Now I am really fussy when it comes to cars and I have selected a few cars that might take my interest if I could get teh money together. Don’t judge my choices, each to their own and all that but they do vary a bit.

- VW R32
- VW Golf
- Audi A/S3
- Vauxhall Astra Elite
Some of the ones mentioned above I probably won’t be able to afford but I will try my best to save up enough money to get one.
Build a Personal Brand
This year I am going to make a concious effort to improve my personal brand within the SEO Industry. This will take a lot of time and effort to do but I beleive that in order to achieve my goals I need make that sacrifice.
Speak at a Conference or Several
To achieve my goal of being a recognised name within the industry I need to speak at the major conferences. This year I am going to make a big effort to pitch to as many events as possible no matter how big or small they are to get myself on the circuit.
I am assuming that speaking at conferences is going to need a huge amount of confidence but above all an informative deck to present, so with that I need to unearth some new findings.
Test & Experiment More
Currently with my long drives I just don’t have time to test techniques and areas of interest as much as I would like. So as with much of my other points on my list I am going to make a big effort to make more time to test different ideas and run a significant amount of experiments that I can report back on.
Improve My Blogging
My writing has long been one of my major downfalls and it is something that I really need to sort out. So the plan for this year is to write a regular blog post here, whether it is SEO related or not to help improve my writing in terms of style and grammar used.
